For years, styling mousses have generally been created to do one primary job: give the hair hold.
Some offer volume. Some improve shine. Others provide a degree of heat protection or include a conditioning protein. Very few attempt to do all of these things at once, and those that do can easily leave the hair feeling heavy, coated or overloaded.
Zade by Design was created differently.
We wanted to develop a mousse that would not simply style the hair, but actively support the condition, appearance and manageability of the hair while it was being styled. It needed to deliver dependable hold without stiffness, enhance shine without oiliness and provide meaningful protection without sacrificing movement.
Most importantly, it had to remain exceptionally lightweight.
The result is an unusually complete professional styling formula that brings together multiple benefits traditionally found in several separate products.
Hold should never mean hair that feels rigid, sticky or artificially coated.
Zade provides a carefully balanced hold factor that supports the style while allowing the hair to retain natural movement. Zade includes a dedicated shine factor designed to smooth the appearance of the hair and enhance its natural luminosity. Rather than relying on heavy oils that can collapse volume or separate fine hair, the formula creates a polished finish while preserving body and movement.
The result is shine that looks clean and sophisticated, not greasy, artificial or over-finished.
Hair is exposed continually to chemical services, heat styling, environmental stress and ordinary mechanical wear. This is why we wanted Zade to offer more than cosmetic styling.
The formula incorporates two distinct hydrolysed keratin technologies. Hydrolysis breaks proteins into smaller components, allowing them to distribute more effectively over the hair and help support vulnerable areas of the fibre.
These proteins help improve the hair's feel, manageability and appearance while supporting strength and reducing the roughness commonly associated with damaged or chemically treated hair.
Zade does not claim to permanently reconstruct the hair. No topical styling product can replace the hair's original biological structure. What it can do is provide intelligent, temporary reinforcement and conditioning precisely when the hair is being handled, brushed and exposed to heat.
This makes Zade particularly valuable for coloured, highlighted, lightened, heat-styled or naturally fragile hair.
Heat protection was never intended to be an afterthought in the Zade formula.
Professional styling frequently involves a hairdryer, diffuser, brush or heated tool. These are the moments when the hair is under some of its greatest stress. Zade therefore combines two different heat-protection technologies to create a more comprehensive protective styling environment.
These ingredients help form a lightweight protective layer around the hair, improve slip and reduce the direct stress associated with thermal styling.
Heat protection should always be used responsibly and cannot make excessively high temperatures harmless. However, incorporating dual thermal protection directly into the mousse means the hair is supported from the beginning of the styling process, not only if someone remembers to add another product.
The natural condition of the hair's surface is influenced by pH.
Products with an unnecessarily high pH can contribute to a rougher, more raised cuticle surface. Zade is deliberately formulated at an acidic pH of 4.5 to support a smoother, more compact cuticle environment.
A smoother surface can improve manageability, enhance light reflection and help the hair feel more polished. This is particularly important for coloured and chemically treated hair, where maintaining the appearance of smoothness and shine is essential.
For Zade, pH 4.5 is not simply a technical number. It forms part of the philosophy behind the product: professional styling should respect the hair while creating the finished result.

Our research has found other mousses that provide hold and shine. Some contain a hydrolysed protein. Some offer heat protection, and a small number disclose an acidic pH.
However, we have not identified another lightweight professional mousse whose published specifications bring together this complete combination: measurable hold and shine, two hydrolysed keratin technologies, dual heat protection and a precisely balanced pH of 4.5.
That is why Zade cannot be described simply as another mousse.
